The Illegal Dog Trade in Thailand – There is a high growth in the illegal dog trade in North East Thailand, which is being run by an underground mafia. Many of the locals won’t eat dog meat as it is un-Buddhist but they make much money smuggling stray dogs that are captured across the Mekong river into Thailand where dog meat is in high demand.
