The best part of the Chiang Dao Elephant Camp performance was when a baby elephant actually painted a picture stroke by stroke. The elephant would daintily take the paintbrush from its mahout and paint. Mahout would change paintbrush colors and elephant would paint some more.

Jan 6 – Customs officers in Thailand display ivory seized in a shipment from Mozambique.

Elephants dressed as Santa Claus became Santa’s little helpers. They handed out festive treats and entertained schoolchildren in the Thai town of Ayutthaya on Christmas Eve. (Dec. 24)
Thailand has seen a second pair of twin baby elephants born in a year.
The first pair of twins was males, born in captivity in March.
And the latest ones are females born on October 8th in an elephant nature park in northern Chiang Mai Province.
